The Duxbury girls basketball team made its last game count for the seniors, defeating Medfield, 51-35, in the Division 2 state championship game on Saturday at the DCU Center.
The Green Dragons capped the 2014-15 campaign with a 26-0 record and are a combined 50-1 in the past two seasons.
“We lost to that same team three years ago at UMass-Boston,” said Duxbury head coach Bob Sullivan. “These kids were sophomores. They didn’t forget that game.”
As for the seniors, it’s off to college, where most will continue their basketball careers.
“To do it with these girls is what I’ve always dreamed of,” said Catherine Harrison, who is headed to Middlebury College. “I’ve had the best time of my life. I’m so proud of all my teammates.”
When asked if this experience could be matched at the next level, Harrison said, “I don’t know if you can live it up. I’m really excited for next year. To leave high school with a 50-1 record is insane.”
Harrison had a team-high 15 points while Jackie Sullivan scored 13 points and Maddie Foote added 11.
